Jocelyn Chiu
Jocelyn Chiu received her Master’s degree in Piano performance from Thornton School of Music, University of Southern California (USC) and Bachelor of Music from Wright State University (WSU) in Dayton, OH, where she studies both piano and violin. Jocelyn has been teaching private piano and music theory lessons for over eight years, and her students range from beginning to advanced students of all ages. After obtaining her master, she also worked as a staff accompanist for both Music and Dance Department at WSU. She is currently an active member of several music professional organizations, including the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC).
Jocelyn was a member of WSU Chamber Orchestra, where she played on both the piano and violin. The orchestra had performed at the Schuster Performing Arts Center (2003, 2004, 2005), Ohio Music Education Association Professional (OMEA) Conference (2004, 2005, 2006), and both Hong Kong and Macau Cultural Centers. As a soloist, she had performed at Hayner Cultural Center and OMEA (2006). Jocelyn was third prize winner of the Ohio Music Teachers Association (OMTA) Collegiate Buckeye Competition and a two-time winner of the WSU Music Department’s Student Honors Recital in 2005 and 2006. She was also a winner of the Concerto Night Auditions and performed with the WSU Chamber Orchestra in 2005. Throughout the years, Jocelyn accompanied for numerous vocalists, instrumentalists, and choruses, including for the vocal studios within the School of Music at USC. In addition, Jocelyn has participated in masterclasses by Menahem Pressler, Doris Lehnert, and Nikica Lesic.
